ORTHOPEDIC ACUPUNCTURE

Pain patterns,  osteoarthritis, injuries, post surgery, postural

Trained in understanding myofascial cascading, we are able to discern the patterns in which antagonistic muscle relationships develop into functional complexes through interplay of movement and stability. Using myofascial decompression techniques and specific exercises, we are able to release and balance postural and movement sequences.

Internal Medicine

Treating complex disease patterns by focusing on supporting the body’s healing process and mechanisms rather than masking symptoms.  Japanese based Kiiko Style Acupuncture uses a method of palpating the abdomen that creates a map-like picture indicating the individual's areas of strength, weakness and energetic blocks. These are then evaluated against the patient’s main complaint to determine a strategy of unblocking critical areas. During the session the practitioner and patient are able to feel when an area being evaluated is uncomfortable and when it is cleared by treatment.

Myofacial decompression

She incorporates advanced acupuncture techniques in a myriad of ways, using anatomical precision to break into taut bands of muscle where aching trigger points form, to help painlessly disperse their contracted state. Utilizing these methods, we restore structure and function, reduce pain and spasms, and break adhesions of scar tissue formation at the sites of old injuries. Our modern techniques include modalities such as dry needling with e-stim, soft tissue manual therapy. THESE techniques have been proven to be most effective for pain, neuropathy, and the remodeling and recovery phase. This style of treatment is also effective as an alternative to cortisone shots, which can cause degeneration of cartilage in the joints over time.

Master Tung Acupuncture

This neurophysical acupuncture methodology needles points distal from the location of pain in order to relieve it. Tung's points are a system of mirror and imaging heavily dependent on meridian interrelationships to manipulate the peripheral and central nervous system in relieving pain.  During a treatment using Tung points, you'll be asked to respond to areas being palpated. Points distal from the affected area are palpated to see if the level of pain changes. When you feel a significant reduction in pain, the point is needled. This type of acupuncture is excellent for orthopedic pain management as well as balancing the body's physiological activity.

TUINA

Traditional Chinese Medicine massage technique is translated to "push-grasp". Used in China for centuries, it is a combination of massage, acupressure and other forms of body manipulation. This technique works by applying pressure to acupoints, meridians and groups of muscles to relax tense muscles, reduce scar tissue, stretch or lengthen fascia, calm the nervous system and promote relaxation.
